Deborah L. Smith Ed.M/LMHC
Our friend James Harden passed away in November of 2013. We will miss him terribly and so grateful that we were able to work with him so closely for so many years.
Achieving a life worth living is the philosophy that Deborah Smith uses in her counseling practice. In order to achieve this, it helps to understand what you are going through, accept it and then make the necessary changes within yourself. This is accomplished by implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Reality Therapy. For individuals who are newly diagnosed, psycho-educational and supportive therapies are implemented as they adjust to a new way of life. An individual treatment plan is made based on the clients needs and strategies include understanding the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors as well as coping techniques to reduce stress and anxiety. While these skills are learned and fine tuned in session, the application in real life situations is where the client sees the difference.
